Christmas Time!

The Tree is Set!

Photobucket

Taylor decorated her tree... notice most ornaments are on one side, but she is so proud she decorated it all by herself and if you come to my house this will be the first thing she will show you.

LOL.. where in the world has she heard that name from?!?! So Polly Sprinkles will be making her appearance tonight to bring along her advent calendar (calendar was shown in the previous post) as well as other fun antics!

Nora and Solid Food!

When Nora turned 4 months we started her on solids and i wanted to post a few pictures of her first time trying baby cereal... she has tried carrots, sweet potatoes, and bananas... Today she tried peaches, surprising she didn't really like them.

She looks so tiny in her high chair!

Nora's First Solids

Yummy...

Nora's First Solids

LOL look at her eyes checking out the baby cereal.
trying out cereal

Hopefully Nora will start rolling over sometime soon she is almost 5 months and has no desire to roll from her belly to back, she will roll on her side and just chill and roll back to her back.. but not if we put her on her belly. She usually takes 3 naps and goes down for the night around 830-9 and the past two nights she slept through... yay!!!

Advent Cards

If you do not feel like making your own advent cards, you can purchase my design for $1.00 "Buy Now" button can be found at the end of this tutorial. After purchase I will email your PDF within 24-48 hours after purchase. Please  check your junk mail folder if you do not receive the email by then.

Here is a tutorial how i made my PDF cards fit my Advent calendar.

Supplies:

Printer
24 sheets of computer card stock
ruler
scissors or rotary cutter

Open PDF and load 24 sheets of computer card stock into printer. Print, make sure your printer settings are set to scale 100% so it will just print regularly.  After you print all 24, this will get tedious (cutting each sheet), but i made the cards long on each side, and at the end, so if your shoe holder pockets are a different size you can make them fit. If you bought the standard shoe organizer like i did in the tutorial you can cut the same way I did.

Cut three white stripes from both ends (or 3 red stripes)..you can use scissors and cut along the line:

Cut the bottom of the card 2 3/4 inches

If you have a laminator, that would be perfect to laminate these cards for many years of use... I do not have a laminator so mine are just card stock.

There you go! Take your decorated clothes pin (tutorial found in other post) and your cards, and you have your Christmas Advent Calendar!

Thank you!

Advent Calendar Tutorial

This is the project that I used those cute little cloths pins in the tutorial below.

So... having children they want everything, especially this time of year. Taylor loves to watch Nick Jr. and Disney.... and they always have toy commercials and this time of year its worse!! Every time Taylor ask for something or while we are at a store that has toys I get to say "Ask Santa" and she drops it... she doesn't ask again and doesn't throw a tantrum, all i have to say is "Ask Santa" (im dreading Jan 1st when i can no longer say that for a while!)

Well one tradition that i am adding to this family is "Elf on the Shelf" If you don't know what that is just google it :) Its super cute and I can't wait to tell you all about it once "She" yes, since i have two girls our elf is going to be a girl... Shows up on our doorstep Dec 1st!

On Dec 1st our Elf is going to bring 24 little gifts (like stocking stuffer gifts, super inexpensive, I bought most of them from the dollar tree) these little gifts are going to be from Santa. Each night if Taylor behaves the Elf will go back to the North Pole to report to santa if she has been a good or bad girl... if she was good that day (no tantrums, talking back.. helping me with Nora..ect) She will get to open a gift... This is really an Advent calendar, when she gets older and no longer believes in the Elf...but works out well with the Elf on the Shelf.

I saw this idea last year on Pinterest with a Grinch theme but i saw it in Dec and was too late to start, so i have been waiting an entire year to do this, and I am so excited to see the look on Taylor's face and soon to be Nora's when they get to use this Advent calendar to open 1 gift every day till christmas! ....

Advent Calendar Tutorial

Supplies:

(1) Over the door Shoe organizer (has 24 pockets) less than $6.00 (found at walmart)
(2) spools of your choice of ribbon .97 cents each (found at walmart)
(1) package of tinsel garland... you can pick any kind of embellishments for this advent calendar. This tinsel was .97 cents (found at walmart)
Glue Gun
(24) Cloths Pins (tutorial in post before this how to decorate them)
(24) Number Cards

Open the shoe organizer to flatten out some of the wrinkles.. you can even pass a super low iron on the back (do not touch anything plastic) to get some of the wrinkles out... that is what i did. You would take your glue gun and your choice of ribbon and hot glue to the white lining of the pockets. (You can hot glue the ribbon straight across, no cutting till the end)

Then take your choice of middle embellishment, mine was tinsel garland and hot glue to the bottom of the pockets. The end and very top, I used white fur ribbon (found in the ribbon section of hobby lobby)

Last step, take your cards and cloths pins and hang on the outside of the pockets. If you have a laminating machine.. you can laminate the cards so they last a long time! which i do not have one, so they are just made of cardstock.  Fill up your pockets with 24 small gifts and count down until Christmas!

When the day passes you can take the card and put it inside the empty pocket!

Next post will be a tutorial on the cards for the Advent Calendar, if you do not feel like making your own cards you can purchase my design for $1.00 and i will send a PDF where you can download, print, and cut for your Advent Calendar!

Decorated Cloths Pin Tutorial

Christmas is my favorite time of the year!! I strongly believe in traditions, things that you start with your family that you do every year... kinda like stockings, or opening one gift the night before christmas... ect.. Growing up we had a lot of these and now that i have my own family i can't wait to start my own as well as keep the ones that i had as a kid.

This is a tutorial on how to make decorated cloths pins.. this tutorial will be used in my DIY project in the next post... but i wanted to show you how to make these little cloths pins first! I have seen these on etsy and i decided to make my own, there might be a lot of tutorials on how to make these but this is the way i did them :) Enjoy! P.S. you can use these for so many things Weddings, Birthdays, Cards... ect. Possibilities are endless... or shoot, sell them! There are so many working families that just don't have the time to make these little cloths pins that they would love to buy!
(Sorry about the pictures below, they were taken with my iphone and not so great!)

Supplies:

Modge Podge (found at hobby lobby)
(1) brush (found at hobby lobby)
(2) Medium Wooden Clothes Pins (Found at Walmart) (set of 12 each)
Scrapbook paper (found at Hobby Lobby)

This tutorial is used to make 24 cloths pins (its for my project in the next post) You can find these medium cloths pins at Walmart, in the School supplies section where you find office stuff, like paper clips..ect... they have smaller ones too that are super cute. Regular size cloths pins you can find in the ironing board section of walmart.

First cut a piece of scrapbook paper the size of the top of your cloths pin... You can use scissors too

Cut to fit top of cloths pin... ugh someone needs to tell my husband that i need a manicure.. LOL

I cut 12 of each kind, cut a few extra just in case ;)

make sure these clips are popped into place so you have a clean finish... then add a thin coat of modge podge on top and put your scrapbook paper on top. I did all 24.

then you want to put a layer of modge podge (dries clear) on top and around the scrapbook so you have a nice harden decorated cloth pin

All done! Super easy to have a fashionable cloths pin for the holidays or change up the scrapbook paper and use the pins for any occasion!

Check out next post on how i used these cute little cloths pins!

Halloween 2012

This is my last "catch up" post i think i have posted everything i've missed that is monumental that i would like to remember in this blog :) Halloween 2012 we had oma, opa, kyle, beth, and mckenzie come over to our house so we could go trick or treating around our neighborhood, bad new our neighbors weren't really in the halloween sprit because only a few houses had their light on. Brandon said 12 kids came to our door... so we got stuck with so much candy we bought. The girls decided to go trick or treating in another neighborhood that was more established, I think everyone in Pleasant View had the same idea because there were TONS of cars pulling up parking and walking their kids around the neighborhood. Beth brought McKenzie's wagon, the girls did so well with the wagon, I kept telling brandon i would have to carry her around the neighborhood like last year. Last year we went to my parents house on Ft.Campbell to walk there neighborhood and taylor made us carry her to each house, she had so much fun... but carrying a 2 year old is not so much fun! LOL. This year was a lot better :) This year Taylor was Tinkerbell! I made her Costume and Shoes this year.. she wanted light up wings and light up wand, so to cut cost on a costume i bought those and made her costume. You can get satin at hobby lobby for like 2.99 for a whole yard! This costume took 1.5 yards (costume and shoes!) and 3 rolls of tulle for the tutu. I found this tutorial on Pinterest, you can follow me at "littleposhbebe" if you want to see my pins!

We all got dressed up and went to lunch the day of Halloween to O'Charlies

Taylor the Tinkerbell.

She told me she was flying like tinkerbell...lol

peter-pan/skeleton Bosley.. LOL

Nora my Beautiful flower

Oma, Opa, and tired Nora... lol she was out!

So excited to Trick or Treat... she wouldn't stop talking about her pink pumpkin weeks before halloween!

Mckenzie and Taylor hanging out in M's wagon :) Nora stayed back at the house with the guys it was too cold

*Cousins!* Taylor & McKenzie

Taylor looks so grown up!

Brandon's yummy dinner... those were suppose to be burgers and hotdogs. Oma and Opa saved the day with pizza, but i think Brandon has been banned from the grill... for like.. forever. lol

Oma and Nora hanging outside while we roasted a few smores.. Nora looks so much like Taylor in this picture!

Aww I just love halloween, its my favorite Holiday except Christmas... Christmas is my Favorite! We have dressed Taylor up every year and plan to until she tells me she is "too old" to dress up

Taylor's First year: Halloween 2009 She was 29 days old....
Kitty Cat

Taylor was sooo Tiny!!! Daddy was a construction worker.. he had to dress up for his job, and we came by to see him for lunch at Milwaukee Burger restaurant.

Halloween 2010: Taylor was 1 years old she was a Baby Lamb. This year we went to my parents house, did not Trick or Treat she was too small... but my mom and I put her in a stroller and walked around her neighborhood :)

Last Year Halloween 2012: Taylor was a Pirate she was 2 years old so she was able to walk around the neighborhood and get candy. I made her boots that year!

Its insane how fast my little munchkin has grown and already been through 4 Halloweens!!  Can't wait for next year to see what she will want to be and what i am going to dress Nora up as.. haha!!

Next is Thanksgiving!!! Nom Nom Nom... can't wait!!!
